Welcome to John Moser's Image Workshop / Playground

“Sleepwalk” was a number one hit in 1959 for Santo and Johnny. I remember hearing and seeing this song played by Danny Gatton many times, but had not heard anyone do it lately. So, when Red Volkaert and Cindy Cashdollar played it twice this past weekend at the Richmond Folk festival, I was in a reverie.

…and here is a very cool video of Santo and Johnny themselves playing the song:

  1. Great video, I think I have a Chet Atkins lp doing this tune. Now I wish I had gone to see them again.

I’m really sad about this young boy, Robbie Wood, missing in the north anna river area and if I was in better shape would consider going to Kings Dominion tomorrow morning to help in the search. Not having a cell phone would be a handicap too.

  2. I’m really sorry I messed this thread up but since we know first hand what this kid must be going through with your beautiful photographs and wonderful prose describing this wilderness. It seems more tragic from our point of view. Rodney has been working close by the park and says the helicopters have been non-stop. Talked to him at 6.30 this morning and he was considering helping in search also.

No problem, I certainly feel concern for the boy, too. But I don’t see much TV anymore and so have not really kept up with what is happening. Even with these mild overnight temperatures, exposure / hypothermia is a real possibility. I suppose I’ll eventually hear what happens, and meanwhile, just hope for the best. I don’t think there is any lack of volunteers to search the woods.

I went to this park on one of my major birthdays…it was either age 40 or 50… and left the trail trying to get lost intentionally. I don’t think I was off the trail for more than 10 minutes before I had no idea where I was! It took me about 2 hours of wandering to find my way back to the trail. That park is bigger than it seems.

I hope the authorities are smart enough to have thought of doing aerial searches at night with infra-red cameras.

  3. Rodney and Billy Rose who has been doing stonework with him went fishing on the north anna today between Landora and Hewitt bridge. They didn’t know about the river being dropped today and a couple hour trip turned into 6 hours.

Every day this story gets more tragic. That river is so clear you wouldn’t think they’d need to do that?

  4. Very uplifting and moving that they found the lad today. It would have sealed the fate of the Hell Trip being way too real, although I’m sure their was enough blood shed their in the 1860’s.

Just good memories for us that treasure what’s left of our shrinking wilderness.

The acoustic guitar in the first part of that clip you posted is Bruce Cockburn… one of my favorite musicians. …and everything David Suzuki does is great.
