Memorial day weekend, 2008. I got a stone in my passway, as Robert Johnson might have said.

I guess your canoe breached or sorta like a front breach where you hit the rock at a certain vector and the force of the water prevented you from dislodging it. Mike Wollard saw one like this in the rapids that had been abandoned by the boy scouts so he recruited me and Ricky F. to go help him salvage it. This one was breached in half with one water force pinning down each end with the aluminum canoe folded in the middle. We pushed and pulled all to no avail and then Ricky hit it like a linebacker and it was free. We carried it back to the banks and Ricky jumped up and down on it until it resumed some approximation of it’s original shape. We loaded it on top of Mike’s car and after some “Bondo” work it became seaworthy. It was a Grummann and it served Mike well for several years until he gave it to Ricky. Is this a fishing blog? cause I don’t know nothing bout that.

I’d like to blame the passenger in the front of the boat for this, but this is ultimately the captain’s fault. I took about an hour to pry it loose from there, and then it only came free after I got a large tree branch to use as a lever. Wish I’d had Ricky F.
